Artificial light in city  posted 39 days ago

Sometimes happens that you have to take some shots of a city, or a part of it, and the weather and lights are not on your side. I’m pretty sure that you have faced that condition few times, and you know, you’re out in a city and you have nothing useful and good to use. Architectures are flat, sky is white/grey without mood and everything seems to be without interest.
You may say that I’m a bit old-fashioned when I say that the light still the key for every good picture but that’s what I’m searching for in my ... [continue reading]
Streets of Wien  posted some days ago

On the first scene we're on a huge scultpure (with sounds too, huh)  in a square. Light is strong and flat and the dark mass of iron can give us something to play with. the first idea that came to my mind is to use it to frame something of the city. On the first shoot I waited a red car (0:16) but at the end the scene still too empty but it make me aware of some nice elements to use (0:24).

So let's move around in search for someting else. On the other side I have a view on ... [continue reading]
At the sea  posted some days ago

Today I took a trip at the beach out of the summer season, when all is ungarded and unprepared. The beaches are fenced by some green nets worn by the weather. Looking at them we can see that the sky isn't a winnter today and the sand in the front is too "flat" too guide the sight so we have to ... [continue reading]
Chioggia markets  posted some days ago

Of all different light conditions that photographers faces, overcast lighting is the one that may consider to be the safest. Overcast front light also gets auto exposure cameras to perform well, since overall illumination is balanced. The softness of this light performs well in natural-looking portraits and richer flower colors, and it also eliminates the contrast problem that sunny days creates. This is assumed, of course, if we aren’t under a dull gray sky like today in Chioggia, Venice. As I ... [continue reading]

Rapeseed fields  posted some days ago

Spring is coming and the flowers are starting to bloom, so I decided to start a search for some rapeseed fields. These yellow flowers are grown for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil and biodiesel. In these last years these cultivation are became quite common also here in the northern part of Italy. Due to photography these fields are good subjects because the homogeneus and thick yellow form. The approach of the day is get a car and travel a bit on the cultivaded area around here.

Venice gondola's  posted some days ago

On the second half of the day spent here in Venice I decided to focus on gondolas. I have a lot of time before the sunset alas the the sky is not going to promise a good light at the end of the day. In Venice you can find gondolas everywhere, but I need a place where the light is controllable, to get some extra mood. The search starts walking around in the small alleys that have small canals, avoiding the big ones or the direct facing on the sea because the light will be not good. In the first ...
